lead melts when engulfed by…practice piece on on heather red slate, previously used for practice for the feathers on a bird…and who knows what…hoof prints?
and here’s the main agenda – started on Christmas Day. heather blue slate from Penrhyn, Bethseda, North Wales. it’s a big stone 480x480mm, but I’ve masked most of it so the dust from the carving won’t obliterate the fine white carbon lines. the mark below the tail of the m is iron pyrites, you could say a flaw, or a feature of the stone.
