Diana learning curve

Diana learning curve
5th September 2015 Oz Osmaston

it’s the wide open roads of Kent, 7am, no traffic, and long stretches of straight…but at 85 the revs are 4000. This is not like her, and since being in the garage there’s this little light – ‘O/D on’, on…Eventually, lured by a disgusting cup of coffee and bacon sandwich for £2.95 I stop, and consult Google and the owners manual PDF (1996). The overdrive stops her from going above 3rd. Poor Diana has just galloped from London all the way in 3rd while drinking 1/4 tank petrol. I locate the switch and phew, we’re back in business, responsive and happy, 2800 revs at 90.

I think I’m becoming a petrol head. On which subject you (who are you I wonder) might like to know, the cheapest petrol I’ve found is Shell Clapton 1.119 – left me wondering if they had dyslexia, since Shell Cobham  was 1.199 Diana is extremely thirsty, still doing 20miles to the gallon.

And I am early, in time for breakfast.
