Who I am and why I teach yoga

Rosemary (Oz) Osmaston

I’m an old-fashioned part-time yoga teacher, teaching just two classes a week and one workshop a month. I do it for the joy of seeing my students’ practice slowly develop (sometimes not so slowly, depending on how much practice they do) – pushing their boundaries and thereby demanding I increase my knowledge and expertise.

I teach small classes of consistently returning students who work together helping each other to learn and practise. The classes cover not only the physical practice, but also how the practice of Yoga can become integrated into daily life and the thinking and intention that lies beneath it.

I have been practising yoga for more than 30 years and have worked with Ros Bell, BKS Iyengar, Derek Ireland, Pattabhi Jois, Jana Appleyard and Natanaga Zhander (Shandor Remete). The Yoga I teach is informed by my practice of yoga under the guidance of these teachers.

I qualified as a British Wheel of Yoga teacher in 2011.
